TC-100 is a classic basal insect cell medium, based on the Oxford (TC-100) formulation, widely used for Sf9 cells and virus propagation. It contains L-glutamine, glucose and 0.35 g/L sodium bicarbonate, without phenol red, HEPES or sodium pyruvate. The medium itself is supplied without serum and is typically supplemented with serum (e.g. 10 % FBS) by the user, depending on the cell line and adaptation. For a modern serum- and protein-free alternative, Spodopan is recommended.
A classic basal medium for Sf9 culture. Based on the Oxford formulation, TC-100 is supplied without serum and is typically used with added serum; it supports Sf9 cell growth and virus propagation, and for serum- and protein-free work Spodopan is recommended.
