Penicillin / Streptomycin is a ready-to-use antibiotic solution containing 10,000 U/ml penicillin and 10 mg/ml streptomycin, the standard combination used to prevent bacterial contamination of cell cultures. Penicillin interferes with bacterial cell-wall turnover, mainly against gram-positive bacteria, while streptomycin binds the 30S ribosomal subunit and inhibits protein synthesis, mainly against gram-negative bacteria. A GMP-grade version (CT-07110) is available.
