EDTA 1 % in DPBS without calcium and magnesium is a chelating solution for mild, non-enzymatic detachment of adherent cells. EDTA binds divalent cations that support cell-to-cell and cell-substrate adhesion, loosening cells from the surface without proteolytic enzymes. It is useful for cells that are sensitive to trypsin, for gentle dissociation of colonies, and as a wash to weaken adhesion before or instead of enzymatic treatment.

Enzyme-free, gentle dissociation. A 1 % EDTA solution in Ca/Mg-free DPBS for detaching trypsin-sensitive cells.

Why EDTA 1 % in DPBS, w/o Ca & Mg

  • Non-enzymatic – chelates divalent cations without proteolysis.
  • Gentle – suited to trypsin-sensitive cells and colonies.
  • Ca/Mg-free base – DPBS without divalent cations enhances the effect.
  • Ready-to-use – 1 % solution, sterile.
