Dulbecco’s Phosphate Buffered Saline (DPBS) with calcium and magnesium is a buffered salt solution that maintains pH and osmolality and provides essential inorganic ions including the divalent cations calcium and magnesium. It is used for washing and handling cells in applications where Ca and Mg are required, for example to preserve certain cell-cell and cell-substrate interactions. It is not intended for use during trypsinisation, where a Ca/Mg-free buffer is preferred.
