Hanks’ Balanced Salt Solution (HBSS) without calcium, magnesium and phenol red, with 0.35 g/L sodium bicarbonate, is a balanced salt solution for use with cells under non-CO2 conditions. It combines a calcium- and magnesium-free composition, suited to dissociation workflows, with the absence of phenol red for applications where the indicator dye could interfere with optical measurements.
