Grace’s Insect Medium is a classic formulation originally developed for the culture of insect cells including Sf9 and Sf21, and it supports a broad range of lepidopteran cells. It is supplied without L-glutamine (add before use) and contains glucose with 0.35 g/L sodium bicarbonate, without phenol red, HEPES or sodium pyruvate. It serves as a well-established base for insect cell culture and baculovirus work, and is typically supplemented per protocol.
